Url: http://www.windermere-hotel.co.uk/The Windermere is an award winning, small London
Hotel of enormous
charm and character, where the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.
Having established a wide reputation, many of our guests are
introduced by personal recommendation, a tribute to the individual care
and attention given to all.
The site upon which the Hotel stands is
steeped in history. The street
overlooked by the windows of the Windermere Hotel has seen Kings,
Queens, Princes, Abbotts and Nobility pass by.
Warwick Way used to be called "The
Abbott's Lane" because it was the
road that connected Westminster Abbey with the Abbott's residence,
known as the Abbott's Grange. Number 144 stands at the point where the
gate to the Abbott's Grange existed.
The Abbott's Grange was the rest and
leisure centre enjoyed not only by
the Abbotts and the monks, but also by the Kings and Princes of
Medieval England. Number 142 and 144 Warwick Way were built in 1857 as
a pair of private dwellings and are fine examples of early Victorian
classical design. Number 144 was probably the earliest "Bed &
Breakfast" Hotel in the area when in 1881 it became the locally famous
"Pimlico Rooms".
Our guest rooms are individually
decorated and include King, Queen,
Double and Twin bedded rooms. We also have a number of Family rooms.
All rooms are equipped with remote
control satellite television (24
hour news, movies, sport and music channels), in-room safe, hairdryer,
hospitality tray and direct dial telephone with a separate modem point.
For the business executive ISDN 2 facilities are available for video
conferencing.
Start your day with our complimentary
English breakfast and complete
the day with an excellent dinner in the relaxed atmosphere of our
licenced restaurant, The Pimlico Room.
We are open to non-residents and our head
chef has developed a series
of menus to tempt even the travel jaded palates of our jet-setting
guests. We offer an eclectic menu of modern British and European
dishes. |
